Navy Submarine docks in Indonesia

Context:

An Indian Navy Kilo class conventional submarine, INS Sindhukesari, docked in Jakarta, Indonesia, for the first time from February 22 to 24.

About INS Sindhukesari:

India’s Navy has 16 conventional submarines in service, seven of which are Russian Kilo-class, four are German HDW submarines and five are French Scorpene class submarines.
It is a diesel-electric submarine. It belongs to Sindhughosh class designed as a part of Project 877.
The Sindhughosh class is basically the replica of the KILO class of the Soviet Union. It can launch missiles up to 220 km.
The Kilo class submarines have a displacement of 2,300 tonnes, a maximum diving depth of 300 metres, top speed of 18 knots, and are able to operate solo for 45 days with a crew of 53.

Additional Information:

The Sunda Strait is between the Indonesian islands of Sumatra and Java. This strait connects the Java Sea with the Indian Ocean.
The Malacca Strait connects the Andaman Sea (Indian Ocean) and the South China Sea (Pacific Ocean).It is the shortest sea route between the Middle East and East Asia.
