About PM Vishwakarma

• PM Vishwakarma was launched on 17 September 2023 to give these artisans end-to-end support.
• Type: It is a Central Sector Scheme with an outlay of ₹13,000 crore for FY2023-24 to FY2027-28. It covers 18 traditional trades.
• Ministry: Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium
• Aim: To improve the quality and reach of artisans’ products and services. It also seeks to integrate them with domestic and global supply chains.

Three Pillars of the Scheme

The scheme also seeks to strengthen the Guru-Shishya parampara, the family-based practice of traditional skills.

Key Components

1. Recognition

• Beneficiaries receive formal identity once registration and verification are complete. They get a PM Vishwakarma Certificate and ID Card.

2. Skill Upgradation

• Training introduces artisans to modern tools, best practices and innovative designs. It also covers digital transactions, marketing and entrepreneurial knowledge.
• Basic Training runs for 5-7 days. Advanced Training runs for 15 days or more.
• Trainees receive a stipend of ₹500 per day.

3. Modern Toolkits

• Eligible beneficiaries receive a toolkit incentive of up to ₹15,000.

UPSC Coaching Classes

4. Credit Support

• The scheme offers collateral-free Enterprise Development Loans of up to ₹3 lakh in two tranches.

• Loans carry a fixed concessional interest rate of 5%. The Government bears interest subvention of up to 8%.

5. Digital Incentive

• Beneficiaries receive ₹1 per eligible digital transaction, subject to a maximum of 100 transactions per month.

6. Marketing Support

• Support through trade fairs, exhibitions, branding, advertising, publicity and e-commerce platforms such as GeM.
• Beneficiaries are also being onboarded onto the Udyam Assist Platform.

Eligibility

• The applicant must be 18 years or above. They must work with hands and tools in one of the 18 notified family-based traditional trades.
• They must be in the unorganised sector, on a self-employment basis.
• Benefits are limited to one member per family, meaning the husband, wife and unmarried children.
