Why A Loyal Voter Is Bad For Democracy?

  • Contrast Between Politician and Voter Loyalty: When a politician lacks loyalty, it can damage their career prospects. Conversely, voter loyalty is harmful to society. The term “informed voter” is frequently used, but it signifies more than just a citizen who votes.
  • Manipulating Loyal Voters: Politicians can almost always gauge what image needs to be projected to loyal voters to ensure that they do not see the truth, the facts. This can result in citizens causing immense harm to themselves and most importantly, to future generations.

Loyal Voter and Dilemma of Social Media

  • Challenge of Social Media Opinion: Another significant issue arising in modern times is social media. This platform enables us to openly share our opinions.
    • However, once we’ve firmly aligned ourselves with a specific political or social stance, retracting from it and publicly acknowledging, “I was mistaken,” requires considerable courage.
  • Dilemma of Public Acknowledgment: Consequently, although we may recognize the truth as citizens, our voter identity often prevents us from publicly acknowledging it. This leads to the loss of our citizenship privilege and confines us within the choices made as voters.

Conclusion

Those who believe that governments frequently change and therefore they are informed voters should reconsider their stance. While voting is a citizen’s responsibility, exercising prudence rather than blind loyalty is crucial for voters.
