Uttar Pradesh encompasses a total of 75 districts, covering a sprawling land area of 240,928 square kilometers. Established on January 24, 1950, the state is home to a District Magistrate or Collector for each district, responsible for local governance. Assisting in the administration of the state, the role of Superintendent of Police typically complements the District Magistrate’s efforts.

Uttar Pradesh consistently upholds its status as India’s most densely populated state. Highlighting its commitment to effective governance and representation, the then-Chief Minister, Mayawati, introduced the creation of three additional districts in 2011. Largest District of Uttar Pradesh

Lakhimpur Kheri, situated along the Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh, India, is the Largest District of Uttar Pradesh, with its administrative hub located in Lakhimpur city.

As a constituent of the Lucknow division, Lakhimpur Kheri spans an extensive area of 7,680 square kilometres (2,970 sq mi). Recognized by the national government as a Minority Concentrated District based on the 2001 census, it is acknowledged as necessitating urgent assistance to uplift living conditions and infrastructure. A survey conducted in 2010 by the Ministry of Urban Development ranked Lakhimpur as the second least sanitary city in India.

Dudhwa National Park, which is in Lakhimpur Kheri, is Uttar Pradesh’s one and only national park. Renowned for its rich biodiversity, the park is a habitat for numerous rare and endangered species, including tigers, leopards, swamp deer, hispid hares, and Bengal floricans.

Smallest District in Uttar Pradesh

Bhadohi district, situated in northern India within the state of Uttar Pradesh, is the smallest district in Uttar Pradesh in terms of area. Gyanpur serves as its district headquarters, positioned 45 km west of Varanasi and 82 km east of Allahabad. 

The distance from Bhadohi to Lucknow spans 234 kilometres. The closest international airport, Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport in Varanasi, is approximately a 45-minute drive from the city. This airport boasts excellent connectivity to various cities including Delhi, Lucknow, and Mumbai.
