Since its inception in 1999, following the Global Financial Crisis of 1997-98, the G20 has convened annually. The G20 is made up of the finance ministries of some of the world’s biggest economies, both from developed and developing nations. In fact, these countries combined contribute to about 80% of the world’s total economic output, 75% of all international trade, and are home to about two-thirds of the world’s population. They also cover about 60% of the world’s total land area.
