Introduction:

The IAS interview is the final stage of the civil services examination. To be invited for the IAS interview, a candidate must score the minimum marks in the written part of the main examination, which is 1750. According to UPSC trend analysis, until  2012, Candidates were evaluated in interviews with a maximum mark allocation of 300, resulting in individual scores ranging from 90 to 245. The average interview scores ranged between 30 percent and 80 percent.

2013 Onward: The interview marks were reduced to 275, and the current marks allocation ranges between 45% to 75%.

The average score in the IAS interviews usually ranges between 65% to 75% marks.

The total marks allotted to UPSC INTERVIEW 2023 are 275 marks.

Generally, the interview holds a substantial portion of the total IAS Interview Marks, ranging from 40% to 80%. In cases where a candidate performs well in the interview, a slightly lower score in the written segment of the main examination does not preclude their inclusion in the final list.

Zainab Sayeed in UPSC 2014 has secured 220 marks out of 275 marks in the interview stage of the exam.
