- SPARSH Digital Pension System: The project is centred around the implementation of the System for Pension Administration Raksha (SPARSH).
- SPARSH is a digital pension system that streamlines pension-related processes for Defence Pensioners.
- Accessible Facilitation Points: The project addresses the need for accessible facilitation points for Veterans and Next of Kin (NOK) across the country.
- Establishment of Facilitation Centres: ‘Project Naman’ will have a Common Service Centre which will facilitate the veterans and their relatives.

- About: The SPARSH i.e System for Pension Administration (Raksha) portal is an initiative by the Ministry of Defence.
- Aim: The SPARSH Portal is aimed at streamlining pension sanction and disbursement processes for the Armed Forces, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Defence Civilians.
- Key Features of SPARSH Portal
- Transparent Pension Management: The portal offers Defence Pensioners a completely transparent view of their pension account.
- It maintains a complete history of events and entitlements, from the commencement of the pension to its cessation for the last eligible beneficiary.
- Comprehensive Administration: Administered by the Defence Accounts Department through the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Pensions), the system ensures efficient pension management.
Other Initiative Related to Defence Pensions
- One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme: One Rank, One Pension means the same pension for the same work and same length of service irrespective of the date of retirement.
- For example, a General who retired in the year 1980 will be receiving the same pension as a General who retired in the year 2015.
- This implies bridging the gap between the rate of pension of current and past pensioners at periodic intervals.
