The unveiling took place at the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) headquarters in Bengaluru, attended by key dignitaries including Union HRD Minister, ISRO Chairman Dr K Sivan, Wing Cdr. Rakesh Sharma, and Professor K Vijay Raghavan, Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India.

Diverse Focus and Inaugural Batch

The program spans interests ranging from science to performing arts, encouraging holistic development. The inaugural batch, commencing in October 2019, comprised 60 outstanding students selected from both public and private schools across India.

Curriculum Design and Group Dynamics

Designed to encourage young and talented students, the program spans various fields of interest, including science, performing arts, and creative writing. With a commitment to holistic development, ‘DHRUV’ aims to inspire excellence in diverse domains. Students were divided into two main streams: 30 in science and 30 in performing arts. Further division into three groups of ten in each stream allowed for personalized attention. Scientific projects under expert guidance were assigned to the science group, while the performing arts group, mentored by cultural icons, focused on choreography and acting.

Themes and Social Impact

All six teams, irrespective of their stream, were given themes addressing global challenges such as climate change, pollution, and terrorism. This approach reflects the program’s commitment to instilling a sense of social responsibility and awareness among participants.

Expansion and Future Vision

While the initial focus was on science and the arts, the Government of India envisions expanding the program into additional streams and sectors. This expansion aims to facilitate the creative development of children nationwide, providing them with opportunities to thrive and contribute meaningfully to society.

Objectives and Holistic Development

The core objectives include coaching outstanding students aged 9 to 12 and exposing them to renowned specialists in science and the arts. This holistic approach, implemented in centers of excellence across the country, seeks to empower young minds to reach their full potential and actively contribute to societal and national progress.

Impact and Transformative Journey

The first batch of the DHRUV program showcased the exceptional talents of 60 students, illustrating the transformative impact of the 14-day curriculum. The projects and choreography undertaken by these young minds exemplify the power of innovation and creativity when coupled with a sense of social responsibility.

In essence, the Pradhan Mantri Innovative Learning Programme is not merely a project but a transformative journey for the nation’s most promising young minds, empowering them to shape the future of our society and country.

While initially focused on two key sectors, the Government of India envisions extending the program to various streams and sectors, fostering innovative development across the country.

In essence, ‘DHRUV’ stands as a beacon, illuminating the path for gifted children to realize their potential, contribute meaningfully to society, and become catalysts for positive change. As the program evolves, it serves as a testament to the government’s commitment to fostering innovation and holistic development among the nation’s youth.

INAUGURAL COHORT OF DHRUV PROGRAM

The initial iteration of the DHRUV program commenced in October 2019. Sixty exceptionally talented students were chosen for this inaugural batch, with a focus on two domains: Science and Performing Arts. The selection encompassed 30 students from each domain, drawing participants from diverse geographic locations nationwide. The chosen students spanned across classes 9 to 12, representing both government and private schools.

A 14-day intensive program was organized for the participants, where students from the Science and Performing Arts streams were segregated into two distinct groups. Further division into three groups of 10 each was done for both streams.
