Polity Preparation Strategy for Prelims 2024

As seen above, Polity is one of the core subjects in the UPSC exam. Apart from its academic weightage, it also plays an important part in the professional career of a civil servant. The tips for preparing well in Polity subject is as follows:

  • Read Basic NCERT: Candidates have to strengthen their basic knowledge by reading NCERT (Class VI to XII) books. This will help them gain further knowledge.
  • Refer to Standard Books: After reading NCERT books, candidates have to refer to standard books such as Indian Polity by M. Laxmikant.
  • Short Notes: Candidates have to make short handwritten notes simultaneously while reading. These notes will come in handy during revision.
  • Analyse PYQs: PYQs contain hints about the nature of questions that an examiner asks. They also help in identifying topics that are frequently asked in the exam.
