It was 19.4 percent higher than the previous year\u2019s 355 entries.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With this, India became the<\/span><b> second most represented country in Asia after China<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> whose 101 institutions were on the list.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Status in Asian Region:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> In the broader Asian region, India secured the <\/span><b>second spot in terms of the number of universities featured<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> behind China which had 101 universities in the list.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Increase in Research Output:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> From 2017 to 2022, its research output increased by 54 per cent.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This increase is <\/span><b>more than double the global average<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and significantly<\/span><b> exceeds the output of its more Western peers.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In terms of volume, India is now the <\/span><b>world\u2019s fourth-largest producer of research,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> generating <\/span><b>1.3 million academic papers <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in this period.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-100894 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/pwonlyias.com\/stage\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/117-6617edf57467c.webp\" alt=\"QS World University Rankings\" width=\"500\" height=\"209\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pwonlyias.com\/stage\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/117-6617edf57467c.webp 816w, https:\/\/pwonlyias.com\/stage\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/117-6617edf57467c-300x125.webp 300w, https:\/\/pwonlyias.com\/stage\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/04\/117-6617edf57467c-768x321.webp 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 500px) 100vw, 500px\" \/><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is behind only China\u2019s 4.5 million, the United States\u2019 4.4 million, and slightly less than the United Kingdom\u2019s 1.4 million.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Research Impact: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">India is about to <\/span><b>surpass the UK in terms of research productivity<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> based on its current trajectory. India, however, comes in <\/span><b>ninth place worldwide <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">for the 2017\u20132022 period when it comes to <\/span><b>research impact as determined by the number of citations.\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Indian University rankings:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The<\/span><b> Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> emerged as the <\/span><b>highest ranked Indian university<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the list with <\/span><b>rank 20 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">under the subject of Development Studies.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">JNU was also the country\u2019s top-ranked university in the <\/span><b>subjects of Geography, History, Modern Languages, Politics &#038; International Relations, Anthropology, English Language &#038; Literature and Linguistics.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">emerged as the next best <\/span><b>rank of 22nd<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the subject of Business &#038; Management Studies.
