initiative<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to have access to the space agency\u2019s expertise and its facilities to build Agnibaan in 2020.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span aria-level=\"1\"><b>The Rocket: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Rocket named,<\/span><b> Agnibaan SubOrbital Technology Demonstrator (SOrTeD) comprises a single piece 3D-printed engine designed and built indigenously, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is launched from Sriharikota.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Sub- Orbital Launch:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The mission was designed to<\/span><b> reach a height of about 8 kilometres<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> before splashing into the sea.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agnibaan SOrTeD will be<\/span><b> Agnikul\u2019s first flight and the second launch by a private startup<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in India.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>1st private rocket launch:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0 Private launch provider <\/span><b>Skyroot, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">achieved its first sub-orbital launch in 2022<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Private Launchpad: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agnibaan SOrTeD is India\u2019s <\/span><b>first launch from a private mobile launchpad, called \u2018Dhanush\u2019<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, established by Agnikul.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>India\u2019s first semi- cryogenic engine: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Agnibaan SOrTeD is\u00a0 also <\/span><b>India\u2019s first semi-cryogenic engine powered rocket<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> launch making it the <\/span><b>\u00a0first-ever controlled flight <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of a semi-cryogenic liquid engine realised through additive manufacturing.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>The engine called,\u00a0 Agnilet,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> uses sub-cooled oxygen as fuel.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Purpose<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: To serve as a test flight and demonstrate in-house and home<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">-grown technologies, gather crucial flight data and ensure optimal functioning of systems for Agnikul\u2019s orbital launch vehicle, the \u2018Agnibaan\u2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Payload capacity<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: While this was a suborbital launch, the <\/span><b>vehicle can fly payloads ranging from 30 kg to 300 kg.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Competitive edge: T<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he use of the 3D-printed manufacturing process is likely to l<\/span><b>ower the launch cost and cut down the vehicle
