Electricity Act 2003.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The dialogue was organized by the Jaipur-based Centre for Energy, Environment and People (CEEP) as part of the <\/span><b>\u2018Vidyut Samvad\u2019 series<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> here earlier this week.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>About Cooperative Society<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Definition:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A cooperative society is a<\/span><b> voluntary association of individuals <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with shared needs who come together to pursue common economic interests.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Objective:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The primary goal of any cooperative is to offer assistance to its members, particularly prioritizing the welfare of the underprivileged segments of society, through the principles of self-help and mutual aid.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Operational Approach:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> By establishing cooperatives, individuals unite as a collective, combining their individual resources, optimizing their utilization, and deriving mutual benefits.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a cooperative society, individuals can join voluntarily and are also at liberty to exit, although they are unable to transfer their shares.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Types of Cooperatives in India: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consumer Cooperative Societies, Producer Cooperative Societies, Cooperative Credit Societies, Cooperative Farming Societies, Housing Cooperative Societies, and Marketing Cooperative Societies.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among the 300 largest cooperative societies globally, India&#8217;s Amul, IFFCO, and KRIBHCO are featured.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"vc_button\"><a aria-level=\"1\"><b>Ministry of Cooperation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Established with a distinct administrative, legal, and policy structure aimed at enhancing the cooperative movement.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>The Banking Regulation (Amendment) Act, 2020<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Empowers the RBI to replace the boards of Cooperative banks and permits Cooperative banks to raise capital through public issues or private placements of equity or preference shares.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>The National Agricultural Co-operative Marketing Federation (NAFED):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Aids Marketing Cooperatives in the States to enhance their marketing operations and improve services to their members.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>The National Co-operative Development Corporation (NCDC)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Established in 1963, it offers assistance in the form of loans and subsidies for marketing, processing, storage, and share capital practices in cooperative sugar, spinning, and weaving mills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Cancellation of the 97th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2011 by the Supreme Court: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This amendment aimed to protect cooperatives by amending Article 19(1)(c) and inserting Article 43B and Part IXB.
