evidence of air pollution in India<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Painting with light combines<\/span><b> digital light painting and low-cost air pollution sensors to produce photographic evidence of pollution levels<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in cities across three countries\u2014India, Ethiopia, and the UK\u2014to spark debate among local communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Air pollution is considered one of the <\/span><b>main threats to both the environment and human health <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and a <\/span><b>leading cause of death globally.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b> World Health Organisation (WHO)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> estimates that <\/span><b>99% of the global population breathes polluted air<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which causes approximately <\/span><b>7 million premature deaths<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> worldwide each year.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"vc_button\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pw.live\/batches\/upsc?utm_source=seo+upsc+batch&#038;utm_medium=seo+upsc&#038;utm_campaign=seo&#038;utm_id=upsc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Enroll now for UPSC Online Course<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong>About the\u00a0 Air of the Anthropocene Project (AoA)<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The AAir of the Anthropocene Project (AoA) was initiated by Robin Prince, an artist, and Francis Pope, an environmental scientist from Birmingham University.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It <\/span><b>creates spaces and places for discussion about air pollution<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, using art as a proxy to communicate and create dialogues about its associated issues.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Photographs taken as part of the \u2018AoA initiative<\/span><b> stimulated discussion around the impact of air pollution.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The project has also been used by the <\/span><b>UN International Organisation for Migration (IOM), the UK\u2019s Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office (FCDO), and UN-Habitat<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to raise air pollution awareness<\/span><b>.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<table style=\"width: 100.206%;\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"width: 146.237%;
