Bangladesh<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Godda<\/span><b> plant contributes about 6% of Bangladesh&#8217;s overall installed generation capacit<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">y<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Operational:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Adani\u2019s Godda plant <\/span><b>started operating in 2022 and became fully <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">operational in June 2023.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Location: I<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">t is an<\/span><b> ultra super-critical thermal power plant<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the Adani Power supplies group in The Godda <\/span><b>District of Jharkhand<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Power Capacity: 1,496-megawatt<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> net capacity<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Power Purchase Agreement (PPA):\u00a0 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Power supplies are facilitated<\/span><b> under a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) entered with the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) in November 2017<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for a period of 25 years.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Special Economic Zone: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The AJPL\u2019s Godda plant was declared an SEZ (Special Economic Zone) by the Centre in March 2019.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Imported Coal: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Power Plant <\/span><b>use 100% imported coal from the Carmichael mine in Australia<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> into India to produce power for Bangladesh.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><b>A bidding route<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>A mutual agreements between entities<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Legal Provisions:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The import\/ export of electricity shall be subject to the <\/span><b>rules and policies of the Government of India\/ Central Electricity Authority (CEA)\/ Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) and the appropriate State Electricity Regulatory Commission(s).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Exception: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In case of electricity generated from a coal based power plant, exports of electricity<\/span><b> will be allowed<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> only where such electricity is <\/span><b>generated utilizing imported coal or spot e-auction coal or coal obtained from commercial mining.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>India\u2019s Electricity Exports to Bangladesh<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As per the Bangladesh Power Development Board\u2019s (BPDB) annual report for 2022-23,\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><b>2,656 MW of Electricity was imported from India constituting more than 10% of overall\u00a0 generation capacity.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>India exported 11,933.83 million units (MU) of power worth $1.03 billion (9.3 per cent of total exports of $11.06 billion) to Bangladesh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from April 2023 to March 2024,as per the data of Department of Commerce portal<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Diesel was ranked 2nd in exports <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">with $829.59 million (7.5 per cent of total exports) while<\/span><b> cotton was third<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at $595.81 million (5.38 per cent).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Company wise breakup: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are four companies currently exporting electricity to Bangladesh,<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Power Trader <\/span><b>NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd (NVVN)\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Power Trader<\/span><b> PTC India Ltd<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Generating units of<\/span><b> Sembcorp Energy India Ltd\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Generating units of<\/span><b> Adani Power ltd: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">90 per cent of the exports comes from this plant located in Jharkahnad\u2019s Godda
