{"id":131383,"date":"2024-09-11T19:38:13","date_gmt":"2024-09-11T14:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/pwonlyias.com\/stage\/?post_type=current-affairs&#038;p=131383"},"modified":"2024-09-12T13:32:41","modified_gmt":"2024-09-12T08:02:41","slug":"national-board-for-wildlife","status":"publish","type":"current-affairs","link":"https:\/\/pwonlyias.com\/stage\/current-affairs\/national-board-for-wildlife","title":{"rendered":"National Board for Wildlife"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recently, the<\/span><b> Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has cleared a controversial transmission line project that sparked protests amid concerns over deforestation in <\/span><b>Goa Mollem National Park.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>About National Board for Wildlife<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is a \u201c<\/span><b>Statutory Organization\u201d<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> constituted under the <\/span><b>Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Its role is <\/span><b>\u201cadvisory\u201d in nature<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and advises the Central Government on framing policies and measures for conservation of wildlife in the country.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><b>For Example: No alteration of boundaries<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in national parks and wildlife sanctuaries can be done without approval of the NBWL.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Board is responsible for promotion of conservation and development of wildlife and forests<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Members:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Chairperson:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Prime Minister is the Chairperson<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Vice-Chairperson:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Minister in charge of the Ministry of Environment &#038; Forests in the Central Government is the Vice-Chairperson.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Member-Secretary to the Board:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Additional Director General of Forests (WL) &#038;
