India now ranks<\/span><b> 6th globally in patent filings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with a total of<\/span><b> 64,480 filings<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This marks a <\/span><b>15.7% increase<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from previous levels, showcasing the country&#8217;s strengthening role in global innovation.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The country\u2019s <\/span><b>Patent-to-GDP ratio surged to 381 from 144 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">over the past decade.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Trademarks:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> India\u2019s IP (intellectual property) office is the <\/span><b>second highest globally in trademarks,<\/b><span Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">held its 18th Meeting on November 11-12, 2024 and approved its standards on quality control.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span including representatives from <\/span><b>CAG, RBI, SEBI, independent experts, and ICAI <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">representatives<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Approval of 33 Global Standards:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> NFRA approved other 33 Auditing Standards to align with global practices.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 16pt;\"><b>Major Recommendations<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Quality Control Standards:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NFRA recommends revising existing quality control standards (SQC1) to align with<\/span><b> global standards (ISQM1 and ISQM2).<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This revision aims to improve the <\/span><b>quality of audits conducted<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Chartered Accountants in India.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Auditing Standard SA 600 (Revised):<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NFRA recommends adopting a<\/span><b> revised version of SA 600, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">which will be applicable to <\/span><b>Public Interest Entities (PIEs)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> only, excluding certain public sector entities.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This revised standard focuses on the auditor&#8217;s responsibility<\/span><b> to consider fraud in an audit of financial statements.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Naming of Indian Auditing Standards:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NFRA has recommended naming <\/span><b>Indian Auditing Standards as &#8220;IndAS,&#8221;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> similar to the practice in countries like the<\/span><b> UK, Australia, and Singapore.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" <\/span><b>allowing people of Indian origin (PIO) to live and work in India indefinitely<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The foreigner<\/span><b> has to be ordinarily resident of India to be eligible to apply for OCI registration<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in India.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Introduced: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Scheme
