indicators<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> nationally as well internationally.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>Employment Indicators<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is the<\/span><b> official data source<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of Employment\/ Unemployment being <\/span><b>conducted by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">since 2017-18.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The survey period is from J<\/span><b>uly to June of the next year.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>FY 2034-24:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The estimated Unemployment Rate (UR) on usual status for youth of age 15-29 years<\/span><b> is 10.2%<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>The Worker Population Ratio (WPR):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is <\/span><b>defined as the percentage of the population that is employed <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and is<\/span><b> calculated by dividing the number of employed people<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the working-age population, and then multiplying by 100.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It has<\/span><b> increased for youth<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> indicating employment has increased from<\/span><b> 31.4% in 2017-18 to 41.7% in 2023-24.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Employees\u2019 Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) Payroll Data: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It gives e<\/span><b>mployment data for the formal sector.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>FY 2034-24:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> More than <\/span><b>1.3 crore net subscribers joined EPFO during 2023-24.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>2017 to2024: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overall in the last 8 years,<\/span><b> more than 7.03 crore net subscribers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> have joined EPFO, indicating increase in formalisation of employment.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Labour Force Participation Rate (LFPR):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is the percentage of a<\/span><b> population that is either working or actively looking for work.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Calculation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The rate is calculated by <\/span><b>dividing the labor force by the civilian noninstitutional population<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and multiplying by 100<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Labour Force is the sum of the number of people who are employed and the number of people who are unemployed.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>FY 2023-2024:\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><b>Rural Areas:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It\u00a0 increased from<\/span><b> 50.7% in 2017-18 to 63.7%\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><b>Urban Areas:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It increased from 47.6% to<\/span><b> 52.0%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><b>Female labor force participation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It reached a seven-year high of 41.7%<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"3\"><b>Male Labour Participation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It reached a seven-year high of 78.8%.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Below Global Average:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> As per the <\/span><b>ILO\u2019s Global Report Trends for Youth, 2022<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the worldwide <\/span><b>youth unemployment rate was 15.6 per cent in 2021.<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>World Employment and Social Outlook Trends, 2024 by ILO: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Globally in 2023, the youth unemployment rate was <\/span><b>13.3 per cent.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span class=\"vc_button\"><a the publi<\/span><b>c, and the equitable distribution of public services <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and policy and is <\/span><b>concerned with access, resources, and opportunities<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, rather than outcomes.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Equity vs Equality: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Equity is different from equality as<\/span><b> it recognises that not all person start from the same place<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and there is a <\/span><b>need for affirmative actions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for providing equal opportunities to the disadvantaged sections.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Link Between Employment and Social Equity:<\/b><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Employment Equity: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Equity in employment opportunities <\/span><b>should be a priority for policy makers <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to include the <\/span><b>excluded and marginalised f<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ostering respect, fairness, and inclusion in communities<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Education: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An individual&#8217;s background, such as race, gender, family income, or geographic location, can shape their educational prospects which can affect their employment opportunities.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Social Unrest: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unemployment can be associated with a <\/span><b>variety of problems, including higher divorce rates, higher suicide rates, and higher incidences <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of alcoholism.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Social Justice: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Achieving social justice requires <\/span><b>workers to have a living wage and an environment i<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">n which rights are protected and Minister\u2019s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It a <\/span><b>central sector new credit linked subsidy scheme <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">being implemented by <\/span><b>Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC)<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Mahatma Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY): <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0It is a <\/span><b>skill training and placement program in India of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> covering over 250 trades sectors like, Retail, Hospitality, Health, Construction, Automotive, Leather, Electrical, Plumbing, and Gems and Jewelry.<\/span><\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is part of the<\/span><b> National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM).\u00a0<\/b><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Rural Self Employment and Training Institutes (RSETIs): <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These are managed by <\/span><b>Banks with active co-operation from the State Governmen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">t and are designed to ensure necessary<\/span><b> skill training and skill up gradation of the rural BPL youth<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to mitigate the unemployment problem.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Deen Dayal Antodaya Yojana-National Urban Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NULM):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> To reduce poverty and vulnerability of the urban poor households by enabling them to access gainful self employment and skilled wage employment opportunities<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is a flagship scheme of the Government of India to extend <\/span><b>affordable credit to micro and small enterprises.
