The Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways, announced major initiatives to boost the capacity at <\/b>Deendayal Port<\/b> worth an investment of more than \u20b957,000 crores.<\/b><\/p>\n

Major Announcements<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

  1. \u00a0A <\/span>new Mega Shipbuilding Project <\/b>with an investment of \u20b930,000 crores and <\/span>capacity to produce <\/span>32 new ships and repair 50 old ships<\/b> every year<\/span>\n
      \n
    1. Benefits:<\/b> Develop technical capability to manufacture big Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) or similar class of vessels with capacity up to 3,20,000 tonnes DWT.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Other facilities like\u00a0 <\/span>Marina, Fishing Harbour, Townships and Marine Industrial Cluster.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    3. A New Cargo Terminal<\/b> with investment of<\/span> \u20b927,000 crores <\/b>which will add an additional<\/span> 135 MTPA capacity to the Kandla Port.<\/b>\n

      1. Benefits:<\/b> Improve the waiting of Liquid Tanker Vessels and improvement in the Turnaround time of liquid vessels.<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. Proximity to <\/span>Kandla Creek\u00a0 will\u00a0 reduce <\/b>the dredging requirement and allowing bigger vessels to dock.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
