Scheme<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><b>Context: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The<\/span><b> Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has announced the launch of a <\/span><b>nationwide\u00a0 scheme for \u2018Cashless Treatment\u2019 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to provide financial aid to road accident victims\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Pilot Programme:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A pilot program was started <\/span><b>last year in Chandigarh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to provide cashless treatment to road accident victims, which was later expanded to six States.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-size: 16pt;\"><b>About the Scheme<\/b><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Applicability:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The scheme will be applicable to<\/span><b> all road accidents caused by the use of motor vehicles<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on any category of road.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Aim:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The scheme is aimed at establishing an ecosystem<\/span><b> for providing timely medical care to the victims of road accidents,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> including during the golden hour.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Nodal Agency: The National Health Authority (NHA)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> will be the implementing agency for the scheme.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Implementation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The programme will be implemented through <\/span><b>an IT platform, combining the functionalities of the e-Detailed Accident Report (eDAR) application <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of the Ministry of Road Transport and
