Organic Production<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The National Programme for Organic Production <\/span><b>provides an institutional mechanism for implementation<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the,<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><b>National Standards for Organic Production (NSOP), certification system, criteria and procedure for accreditation of Certification Bodies,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> norms for the operation of certification bodies, the National (India Organic) Logo and the regulations governing its use.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Secretariat: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">T<\/span><b>he Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the secretariat for the implementation of the NPOP<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Nodal Ministry: Ministry of Commerce &#038; Industries\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Launch: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Program <\/span><b>was launched in 2001 to cater to the export requirements of a third-party certification system for organic products\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Legal Act: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Scheme prescribes the <\/span><b>regulatory requirements for trade in organic products <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">notified under the <\/span><b>provisions of the Foreign Trade Development Regulations Act, 1992 (FTDR).<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Recognitions: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NPOP standards for production and accreditation system <\/span><b>have been recognized by the European Commission and Switzerland<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> System (ICS).<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Market Linkages: The Internal Control System (ICS) of the Organic Grower Groups m<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ust ensure the <\/span><b>procurement of the entire organic produce<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or establish market linkages to support farmers.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Reduced Land Conversion Period:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The revised derogation provisions<\/span><b> allow for a potential reduction of up to three years in the land conversion <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">period to organic, subject to conditions and safeguards.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Transparency: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is a need now for<\/span><b> disclosure of information about organic farmers and other relevant details i<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">n the public domain, bolstering system credibility.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Oversight Mechanisms: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Strengthening of oversight mechanisms <\/span><b>with the integration of IT tools and the web-based traceability system, Tracenet,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for monitoring, surveillance, and data analytics.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>About The Portals Unveiled During the Event<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>TraceNet 2.0: T<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">raceNet empowers stakeholders to<\/span><b> streamline operations and meet global organic certification standards by ensuring transparency, traceability, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and compliance for organic agricultural and processed food products from farm to market.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">t is a <\/span><b>system of production which prohibits the use of synthetically produced agro-inputs<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> like fertilizers and pesticides and <\/span><b>uses organic materials (such as crop residues, animal residues, legumes, bio-pesticides) for maintaining soil productivity<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, fertility and managing pests.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Holistic Approach:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Organic Farming emphasises a <\/span><b>whole-system approach including individual components<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (soil minerals, organic matter, micro-organisms, insects, plants, animals, and humans) to <\/span><b>create a sustainable and self-regulating style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The <\/span><b>Economic Survey 2022-2023 mentions that India has 4.43 Mn organic farmers, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the highest in the world.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Production: India produced around 2.9 Million MT (2022-23) <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of certified organic products<\/span><b> with Fiber crops being the single largest category<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><b>It is followed by Oil Seeds, Sugar crops, C<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ereals and Millets, Medicinal\/ Herbal and Aromatic plants, Spices &#038; Condiments, Fresh Fruit Vegetable, Pulses, Tea &#038; Coffee.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>State wise:<\/b> <b>Madhya Pradesh emerged as the largest producer followed b<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">y Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Karnataka, and Odisha.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Sikkim formally declared a 100 percent organic state in style=\"font-weight: 400;\">hills, islands, tribal or desert belts with no history of GMO and agrochemical use to <\/span><b>transform them into certified organic production hubs.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North East Region (MOVCDNER):<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It is a sub-mission under the <\/span><b>National Mission on Sustainable Agriculture<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which aims to <\/span><b>develop crop commodity-specific organic value chain and address gaps in organic crop production,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> wild crop harvesting, organic livestock management and processing, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li
