style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is an <\/span><b>autonomous body<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under the<\/span><b> University Grants Commission (UGC)which assesses\u00a0 the \u2018Quality Status\u2019 of higher education institutions (HEIs).<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Establishment:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It was <\/span><b>founded in 1994<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> based on recommendations from the <\/span><b>National Policy on Education (1986)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Programme of Action National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF)<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NIRF is a ranking methodology developed by the Ministry of Education, India to assess and rank higher education institutions across the country.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Launch Year:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> It was launched in November 2015 and has been releasing rankings annually since then.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Latest Edition:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The 7th edition of NIRF was released in July 2022, while the 2024 edition introduced major changes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Framework:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The NIRF ranks institutions based on a structured methodology that evaluates their performance across multiple categories.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Ranking Categories: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It includes <\/span><b>Overall, Research Institutions, Universities, Colleges, and discipline-specific rankings (Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Law, etc.).<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>2024 Updates:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Three new categories were introduced: <\/span><b>State Public Universities, Open Universities, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>Skill Universities.\u00a0<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, the<\/span><b>
