<\/span><b>human-wildlife conflict (HWC)<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the<\/span><b> Majuli River Island district of Assam.<\/b><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>Key Findings of the Study<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>primary objective of the survey <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">was to explore ways to secure the growing population of one-horned rhinos that have strayed from<\/span><b> Kaziranga National Park onto the river island.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">More than<\/span><b> 110 households,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> local communities, Satradhikars (head priests of Vaishnavite monasteries), forest officials, and law enforcement agencies participated in the survey.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The study covered two key regions:<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Namoni Majuli (<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">including Sesuguri, Lobak Khutar, and Ahotoguri Island)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Ujoni Majuli<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (stretching from Kamalabari Ghat to Gejera).<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>90% of the local population <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">depends on <\/span><b>agriculture, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">making human-wildlife conflict a major threat to their livelihoods.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Rhinos, wild buffaloes, wild boars, elephants, and even tigers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> frequently damage crops and livestock, leading to economic distress.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size:
