style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on March 9, 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Madhav National Park became the <\/span><b>ninth tiger reserve in Madhya Pradesh.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>About Madhav National Park<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Location<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Situated in the Shivpuri district in Chambal region in Madhya Pradesh, on the <\/span><b>northern fringe of the Central Highlands of India.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-158289 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/pwonlyias.com\/stage\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/03\/104-67cee2066f724.webp\" alt=\"Madhav National Park\" width=\"449\" sizes=\"(max-width: 449px) 100vw, 449px\" \/><b>Establishment: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Park was the hunting ground of Mughal emperors and Maharaja of Gwalior.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It got the <\/span><b>status of a National Park in 1958.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Number of Tigers:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The reserve has five tigers at present, including the two cubs born recently.\u00a0<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Two more tigers could be released into the reserve soo<\/span><b>n<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b>Lakes: Sakhya Sagar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and<\/span><b> Madhav Sagar<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> are two lakes located in the <\/span><b>southern part<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of the park.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><b>Sakhya Sagar was declared a Ramsar site in July 2022.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Rivers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: The park area forms the catchment of the <\/span><b>Sind River,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> which flows along its eastern boundary.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Geology: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The eastern part of the park consists of sedimentary rocks from the Vindhyan system, mainly sandstone, shale, and limestone.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Vegetation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Comprises Northern Tropical Dry Deciduous Mixed Forests and Dry Thorn Forests.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Fauna:<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Herbivores<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Nilgai, Chinkara, Chowsinga, Chital, Sambar, and Barking Deer.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><b>Carnivores<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: Leopard, Wolf, Jackal, Fox, and Wild Dog.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>About Tiger Reserve<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tiger Reserve is a protected area designated for the conservation of tigers.<\/span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A tiger reserve can also be a national park or a wildlife sanctuary.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><b>Notification Authority: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tiger reserves are notified by State Governments under Section 38V of the<\/span><b> Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">based on the advice of the<\/span><b> National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA).<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>About National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCA)<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><b>NTCA is a statutory body <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">under the<\/span><b> Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEFCC).<\/b><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Established in 2006 under th<\/span><b>e Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972.<\/b><\/li>\n<li><b>Composition:<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Chaired by the territorial.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An adult male\u2019s territory may encompass two to seven female territories.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b>Each tiger has unique stripe patterns,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> similar to human fingerprints.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tigers are excellent
