aria-level=\"1\"><b>Consistency and Clinical Autonomy: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">STGs can help mitigate factors that lead to varying levels of care across <\/span><b>different hospital procedures while<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> allowing fo<\/span><b>r clinical autonomy to address individual patient needs.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Resource Valuation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Consequently, they facilitate the valuation of healthcare resources utilized for the precise costing of multiple procedures.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>Challenges Associated with Healthcare Sector in India<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>STG Implementation: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The insurance industry\u2019s initiation of STGs for <\/span><b>hospitals in 2010 faced setbacks due to insufficient participation <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">from private hospitals, resulting in a lack of representative and accurate costing data.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Data Limitations:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Data limitations also pose a challenge. Efforts by initiatives like the <\/span><b>Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Department of Health Research<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to develop STGs for<\/span><b> common conditions and adopt a comprehensive costing framework have made significant progress.<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Enforcement Challenges: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Only <\/span><b>11 states and seven union territories <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">have notified the <\/span><b>Clinical Establishment Act, and its implementation remains weak,<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> with scant evidence regarding its impact on affordability, care quality, and provider behavior.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Pricing Challenges: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Similar limitations in design and implementation capacity have impeded the successful adoption of the <\/span><b>National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority\u2019s decision <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to cap prices of stents and implant<\/span><b>s since 2017, as well as various directives mandating doctors to prescribe generic medicines.<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>Way Forward<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>DRG Implementation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Endeavors are underway to establish an <\/span><b>Indian version of Diagnostics-Related Groups (DRGs).\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Regulatory Enforcemen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">t: Command-and-control regulations utilizing p<\/span><b>ecuniary measures like price caps can swiftly influence behavior by compelling compliance<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><b>Conclusion<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Policies for rate s<\/span><b>tandardization must be feasibl<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">e, easily implemented, and adhere to established price discovery practices.
