UPSC Mains Exam Centres List for 2024 has been made public in the UPSC Notification 2024. In India’s largest cities, the UPSC Mains Exam Centres List is assigned. How Exam centres Are Allocated from the UPSC Mains Exam Centres List 2024?

The UPSC Mains Exam 2024 is scheduled to begin on September 20, 2024. For the UPSC mains exam, aspirants can view the UPSC Mains Exam Centres List at the official site of UPSC

  • While applying for the UPSC prelims exam itself, candidates will be choosing the exam centres for both UPSC Prelims and mains exam.
  • If candidates didn’t get their preferred centre, they should select another centre from the UPSC Mains Exam Centres List
  • Therefore, to secure their preferred UPSC exam centre, aspirants are advised to apply as soon as possible. 
  • It should be noted by the candidates that the request to switch centres will not be honoured. 
  • For candidates with low vision, each exam centre will accommodate examinations in their own spaces.
  • Not every district has a UPSC exam centre, so candidates occasionally have to travel to the closest district. It is strongly advised that candidates review the UPSC Mains Exam Centres List and select the most convenient ones. 
  • Candidates need to be aware that, except for Dispur, Chennai, Nagpur, and Kolkata, the maximum number of applicants will be permitted at each UPSC exam location.

The candidates who apply for the UPSC exam will have to choose an exam location according to convenience and preferences. The UPSC distributes UPSC Mains Exam Centres List according to a first-come, first-served policy. As a result, candidates won’t get the centre of their choice. The UPSC adheres to the following guidelines when assigning UPSC Mains Exam Centres List for mains exams:

  • First, the centre with the most applications will be assigned to the early applicants.
  • The only cities where there is no cap on the number of applicants to be accepted are Nagpur, Kolkata, Dispur, and Chennai. There is a cap on the number of candidates in other UPSC exam centres.
  • Following the commission’s requirements, the UPSC retains the authority to modify the centres that are assigned to applicants.
  • A candidate’s request to switch the location of their IAS exam will not be considered by the commission.
  • Candidates with disabilities will have access to have their exams at their locations.

  • Write down the exam centre’s name, address, and other instructions.
  • Print out the admit card, as it is one of the important documents to carry for the exam.
  • Respect the instructions on your admit card and arrive at the exam location on time.

Rules To Be Followed At UPSC Mains Exam Centres

The following are some essential items that applicants should not overlook when they arrive at the UPSC exam centres:

  • Candidates must bring their admit card, proof of identity, passport photograph, and black ballpoint pens to the UPSC Mains exam centre. It is advisable to choose a smooth writing pen for UPSC mains.
  • Because the commission cannot guarantee the students’ belongings safety, they must not carry any valuables.
  • Candidates are prohibited from bringing any electronic devices into the exam centre, including phones and calculators, as well as mathematical or drawing tools, books, slide rules, map stencils, and study materials.
  • Candidates who behave inappropriately towards the exam centre staff will not be allowed to take the exam.

FAQs On UPSC Mains Exam Centres List

There are 24 exam centres in India where the UPSC CSE Mains exam is held. Only those who passed the preliminary exam are eligible to take the IAS Main Exam.

It is recommended that applicants arrive at the exam centre at least one hour before the gates close to avoid any last-minute hassles.

In addition to the UPSC Mains exam 2024 admit card, candidates must provide a current ID proof and 2 passport-size photos.
