Tiebreaker for UPSC IFS Cut Off 2024

In highly competitive examinations like the UPSC Indian Forest Service (IFS) 2024, it is not uncommon for multiple candidates to secure the same aggregate marks. To ensure fairness and consistency in final rankings, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) follows specific tie-breaking principles when preparing the merit list.

For the IFS 2024 examination, the following tie-resolution criteria were applied:

  1. Higher Marks in Compulsory Papers and Interview:
If two or more candidates scored equal total marks (out of 1700), the candidate who secured higher marks in the compulsory papers and the Personality Test combined was given a higher rank in the merit list.

  2. Age Seniority:
If the tie still persisted after applying the first criterion, the candidate who is older in age was placed higher in rank.

These principles are designed to uphold the integrity of the selection process and to provide a clear, merit-based system for resolving tie cases. They ensure that candidates with stronger performance in core assessment areas or with greater seniority are given preference in cases of identical scores.
