Yoga Mahotsav 2024 by Ministry of Aayush

Yoga Mahotsav-2024, a grand event was organised on 13th March to commemorate 100 Days Countdown to International Day of Yoga 2024 at Vigyan Bhawan. The theme of Yoga Mahotsav 2024 was “Yoga for Women Empowerment.”

The Ministry of AYUSH organised Yoga Mahotsav 2024 in Vigyan Bhawan in Delhi, to make yoga a mass movement, highlighting its holistic benefits.

This Yoga day is featuring nationwide mass yoga sessions, workshops, and seminars, uniting people from various backgrounds to celebrate and promote this ancient practice​.

International Yoga Day 2024 Global Celebrations

International Yoga Day 2024 Celebrations in India

The 10th International Yoga Day 2024 is being Celebrated in India by the Ministry of AAYUSH at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre, Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir.

Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the 10th International Day of Yoga celebrations at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre in Srinagar.

  • Over 7,000 people are joining him in a yoga session on the banks of Dal Lake. The theme for this year’s International Day of Yoga is ‘Yoga for Self and Society’.

The Minister of AYUSH introduced a ‘Common Yoga Protocol Book in Braille’ to make it easier for visually impaired individuals to learn and practice yoga. Additionally, he unveiled a comic book titled ‘Professor Ayushman’ focused on yoga. He mentioned that this comic book will engage children, making learning and practising yoga both fun and interesting.

International Yoga Day History

We are celebrating the 10th International Day of Yoga 2024. The idea of an International Day of Yoga was first proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech at the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. The proposal received broad support, and the United Nations on December 11, 2014, declared June 21 as the International Day of Yoga by resolution 69/131. The day is aimed at raising awareness across the world about the many benefits of practising yoga.

2022 Yoga for Humanity Mysuru, Karnataka PM Modi led the event with 15,000 participants. Introduced the ‘Guardian Ring’ program, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav integration, mass demonstrations at 75 iconic locations, and the Digital Yoga Exhibition. Countdown events held globally.
