The Department of Science and Technology (DST) has launched the ‘Electric Vehicle Solutions led by Startups (EVolutionS)’ initiative to strengthen the domestic Electric Vehicle (EV) component ecosystem. 

  • It targets startups working on EV solutions and aims to accelerate prototype-to-product transition.

Objective of the Programme

  • Assist startups in advancing from Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 3–4 (prototype) to TRL 6–8 (commercialization).
  • Promote indigenous innovation in EV components and reduce dependence on imported materials.
  • Enable pilot demonstration, testing, validation, and industry collaboration.
  • Build a domestic supply chain for EV materials, systems, and infrastructure.

Scope and Coverage

  • Applicable to electric 2-, 3-, and 4-wheelers, including e-rickshaws (L5), e-carts, and e-buses.
  • Also supports development of EV public charging infrastructure.
  • Open to startups with in-house development of EV materials or sub-systems within India.
  • Eligibility: Startups must have achieved TRL 3 or 4 to qualify.

Funding and Support

  • Total financial support: ₹50 lakh per selected startup.
    • Out of this, ₹30 lakh will be provided as equity-linked instruments.
