According to the candidates' initial responses, the difficulty level of CSAT Paper-II ranged from moderate to difficult. They found the reading comprehension section to be lengthy. One candidate mentioned that the overall difficulty of the CSAT was moderate to difficult. The numerical questions were challenging, and there was a notable emphasis on permutations and combinations in the question set.

CSAT scores have a scale that spans from 0 (representing no customer satisfaction) to 100 (representing complete customer satisfaction).

While the marks obtained in the CSAT paper are not considered for the merit ranking of UPSC candidates, it is essential for candidates to secure a minimum of 33% in this paper. This requirement ensures that the marks obtained in the General Awareness paper are taken into account when determining whether a candidate has cleared the UPSC Prelims exam.

Since 2015, it is worth noting that the marks obtained in the CSAT (Civil Services Aptitude Test) are no longer taken into account for generating the merit list for the Civil Services Mains examination. Currently, candidates are required to secure a minimum of 33 percent in the CSAT paper, but these marks are not considered in the merit list.

The UPSC CSAT 2023 examination took place in the forenoon session from 2:30 PM to 4:40 PM on 28th May 2023.
