Who is Mira Murati: Joined as OpenAI new Interim CEO replacing Sam Altman

Leadership Shift at OpenAI: Mira Murati Appointed Interim CEO Following Sam Altman’s Removal

  • About: Sam Altman, the previous CEO of OpenAI was removed from his position recently. A permanent replacement will be made soon.
  • Reasons for Removal: Sam Altman had to be removed from the position as the board no longer had confidence in his ability to continue leading OpenAI.
  • Mira Murati: Murati was serving as the chief technology officer of OpenAI. She joined the company in 2018.
    • Murati is of Albanian descent and was educated in Canada as a Mechanical Engineer.
    • During her graduation, she interned at Goldman Sachs. Before she joined OpenAI, Murati spent three years at Tesla as a senior product manager.
    • She had a major role in the development of the Model X car, and Leap Motion. She has experience working in aerospace, automotive, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) sectors.

ChatGPT: A Comprehensive Overview of OpenAI’s Conversational AI Pioneer

  • About: Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer (ChatGPT) is a large language model-based chatbot developed by Artificial Intelligence (AI) Company OpenAI.
    • ChatGPT has been designed as a ‘conversational’ AI and is designed to answer queries just like a human.
  • Basic Job: It can answer “follow-up questions”, and can also admit its mistakes, challenge incorrect information, and reject inappropriate requests.
  • Basis: ChatGPT is based on GPT 3.5 series of language learning models (LLM). GPT, which stands for Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3, is a kind of computer language model that uses deep learning techniques to produce human-like text based on inputs.
    • GPTs are based on the transformer architecture developed by Google for the purpose of conversation.
  • Training of ChatGPT: The ChatGPT chatbot has been trained using Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), which enables it to predict what will come next.
    • In the reinforcement learning stage, human trainers were required to rank responses that the model had created in a previous conversation.
    • These rankings were utilized to create “reward models” that fine-tuned the model further by using several iterations of Proximal Policy Optimization (PPO)
  • Evolution of ChatGPT: The initial model for ChatGPT was trained using human AI trainers, who provided conversations in which the AI Chatbot played both sides—the user and an AI assistant.
    • The AI trainers had access to model-written suggestions to help them compose their responses.
  • Applications of ChatGPT: ChatGPT chatbot has the ability to compose basic emails, party planning lists, CVs, college essays, solving mathematics problems, write computer code, develop a complete novel etc.

Advantages of Generative Chatbots in Time, Cost, and Multilingual Support

  • Higher Efficiency: Mechanical routine and repetitive tasks can be handled by generative chatbots, thus freeing up time for other tasks.
  • Cost Savings: Services such as customer grievance handling can be done through generative chatbots, thus saving costs.
  • Time Saving: Generative chatbots provide responses immediately, thus saving time.
  • Multilingual Support: Generative chatbots can serve user needs in multiple languages, thus making it suitable for businesses with global audiences.
  • Multitasking: Generative chatbots can serve multiple users at the same time, making it suitable for applications with high user engagement.

Understanding the Drawbacks of Generative Chatbots

  • Incorrect Information: The chatbot may generate incorrect information, and create “biased content.”
  • Limited Time-frame of Knowledge Accumulation: The chatbot does not possess knowledge of the world after 2021.
  • Incorrect Grammatically: ChatGPT can provide grammatically correct responses but these lack context and substance.
  • Bypass Safety Mode: Even though ChatGPT has been designed to reject prompts that violate its content policy, individuals have managed to coerce ChatGPT into overcoming its built-in limitations.
  • Artificial and Mechanical Nature of Response: The responses generated by generative chatbots can sound like a machine and unnatural.

Generative AI: Crafting Unique Content, Analyzing Complexity, and Enhancing Efficiency

  • About: Generative AI is a type of Artificial Intelligence service that enables users to quickly generate new content based on a variety of inputs.
    • Text, images, sounds, animation, 3D models, or other types of data can be input and output to these models.

 Sam Altman

  • Working: Generative AI provides new content by using neural networks to identify the patterns and structures within existing data.
    • Generative AI can use unsupervised or semi-supervised learning for training, making it quick to leverage a large amount of unlabeled data to create foundation models.
  • Benefits of Generative AI:
    • Unique Content: Generative AI has the ability to create new, original content, such as images, videos, and text, which is separate from previous ones.
    • Analyze Complex Data: Generative AI can analyze complex data to discover hidden patterns, which can boost existing business.
    • Efficiency: Generative AI has shown the ability to improve the efficiency and accuracy of existing AI systems, especially natural language processing and computer vision.
    • Time-saving: Generative AI can speed up tasks and processes, saving time and resources for businesses and organizations.
