The results of the UPSC exams are announced in different stages. Firstly, the commission released the UPSC CSE Prelims result, which was held in May or June. The candidates who qualified for the UPSC prelims exam are then eligible to appear for the UPSC CSE Mains examination, which was held in September 2023. The UPSC Preliminary examination comprises two papers: General Studies (Paper-I) and General Studies Paper-II–Civil Services Aptitude Test (CSAT). The UPSC CSE Main Exam is the second phase of the selection process for prestigious services like IAS, IFS, and other Group A and B services. It consists of nine written papers, including compulsory and optional subjects. Compulsory papers include Essays, General Studies Papers I to IV, and English and Regional Language Papers, while candidates can choose any one subject, which is divided into two papers from a list of 48 for the optional papers. Each paper has a duration of three hours, except for the English and Regional Language Paper, which is two hours.
This exam is highly competitive, with only a small percentage of candidates managing to clear it. It serves as a comprehensive evaluation of candidates’ knowledge, understanding, and analytical skills.
