UN Resolutions are Formal decisions or declarations made by United Nations bodies, primarily the General Assembly or Security Council.
Non-binding (General Assembly): Most resolutions passed by the General Assembly are recommendations and are not legally binding.
Binding (Security Council): Security Council resolutions, especially under Chapter VII of the UN Charter, are legally binding and can enforce sanctions, authorize military action, or establish peacekeeping missions.
Purpose: Resolutions address international issues such as peace and security, human rights, and development, reflecting the UN’s position on global matters.
Voting: Resolutions are adopted through a majority vote, but in the Security Council, permanent members have veto power.
