Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP)

• Recently, the Union Home Minister inaugurated the Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP) at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI).

Fast Track Immigration Trusted Traveller Programme (FTI-TTP).

• Objective: To reduce airport congestion by providing expedited immigration and emigration clearance for pre-verified travellers.
• Collaboration: The Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Civil Aviation, and the Bureau of Immigration collaborated on the FTI-TTP.
• Similarity: The FTI-TTP is similar to the U.S. Global Entry Program, offering fast-track immigration and security clearance for pre-approved, low-risk travellers.
• Major Indian Airports: In addition to New Delhi, the FTI-TTP was launched at Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Ahmedabad airports during the initial phase.
• Implementation: The FTI-TTP will utilise e-gates or automated border gates to streamline immigration clearance with minimal human intervention. 
• Validity: The FTI registration will remain valid for up to five years or until the passport’s expiry, whichever occurs first.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)

• Recently, the  Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban)  would be revamped with new features based on learning from the past nine years since when it has been operational

PMAY- Urban

• About: Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) is a credit-linked subsidy scheme aimed at offering affordable housing to low and moderate-income residents nationwide.
• Nodal Ministry: Launched in 2015 under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
• Beneficiaries: Economically Weaker Section (EWS) with incomes up to 3 lakh.
• • Low Income Group (LIG) with incomes from 3 to 6 lakh.
  • Middle Income Group (MIG) with incomes from 6 to 12 lakh.
  • EWS beneficiaries are eligible for assistance across all four verticals of the scheme, while LIG/MIG categories qualify specifically under the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) component, which is part of the Central Sector Scheme of the Mission. 
  • The four verticals include In-situ Slum Redevelopment, CLSS, Affordable Housing in Partnership, and Beneficiary-led Construction/Enhancement.

Poori Padhai Desh Ki Bhalai

• Recently a Non Governmental Organization called Child Rights and You  launched “Poori Padhai Desh Ki Bhalai” campaign to raise awareness and Increase girl’s school participation

CRY:

• About: CRY, or Child Rights and You, is an Indian non-governmental organisation founded in 1979 by Rippan Kapur, an Air India purser.
• Aim:  It focuses on advocating for children’s rights and operates through 99 grassroots projects across 19 states in India.
• Impact:  CRY has positively impacted the lives of more than three million children.

eSakhsya App

• Days ahead of the implementation of the three criminal laws, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is testing eSakshya (e-evidence).

eSakshya App:

• About: It is a mobile-brd application to help police record the scene of crime, search and seizure in a criminal case and upload the file on the cloud-brd platform.
• Process: The police official will have to upload a selfie after the procedure is complete. 
  • Each recording could be a maximum four minutes long and several such files could be uploaded for each First Information Report (FIR), according to the details shared with State police departments.
• Developed by: The mobile application developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) will be available to all police stations which register and download the App.

iDEX

• Recently, Pixel, a hyperspectral earth-imaging company based in Bengaluru, signed the 350th iDEX (Innovations for Defence Excellence) contract with the ministry of defence.

iDEX

• About: Launched in April 2018 under the Ministry of Defence (MoD), iDEX is the flagship initiative aimed at promoting self-reliance and fostering innovation and technology development in Defence and Aerospace sectors. 
• Objective: It engages industries, including MSMEs, startups, individual innovators, R&D institutes, and academia.
  • iDEX has partnered with prominent incubators across the country to offer support, technical guidance, and mentorship to winners of its challenges.
• Funding: iDEX, funded and managed by the Defence Innovation Organization (DIO), established as a not-for-profit company under Section 8 of the Companies Act 2013 by DPSUs like HAL & BEL, operates as the executive body. 
• Functions: It oversees all necessary activities, while DIO offers strategic policy direction to iDEX. Financial assistance under iDEX is extended to startups, MSMEs, individual innovators, and partner incubators through DIO.

Sucheta Kripalani

• June 25 is the birth anniversary of Sucheta Kripalani, India’s first woman Chief Minister.

• About: Born on 25 June 1908 in Ambala district, Sucheta Kripalani was an Indian politician and freedom fighter.
• Role in Freedom Movement: Sucheta Kripalani played significant roles in India’s freedom movement:
  • Quit India Movement: Sucheta Kripalani emerged as a prominent figure during the Quit India Movement and was arrested by the British in 1944.
  • All India Mahila Congress: In the 1940s, she founded the women’s wing of the AIMC, contributing to the freedom struggle.
  • Association with Mahatma Gandhi: Her commitment to politics impressed Mahatma Gandhi, and she collaborated closely with him during the partition riots.
  • Social Welfare: She played a pivotal role in the rehabilitation of refugees in Noakhali in 1946.
• Constituent Assembly: Sucheta Kripalani was one of the few women elected in 1946 to the newly formed Indian Constituent Assembly tasked with drafting the Constitution of India.
• First Women Chief Minister: On October 2, 1963, she achieved a milestone in women’s political leadership by becoming the 4th Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh (formerly United Provinces) and the first woman to hold this position.

WORLD HYDROGRAPHY DAY 2024

World Hydrography Day

• About: World Hydrography Day is observed annually on June 21 by the International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) to promote awareness of the crucial role of hydrography.
• Theme: The theme for 2024, “Hydrographic Information – Enhancing Safety, Efficiency, and Sustainability in Marine Activities,” underscores the changing role of hydrographic services amid advancements like e-navigation, autonomous shipping, and emissions reduction.

International Hydrographic Organisation (IHO) 

• About: The IHO, originally named the International Hydrographic Bureau, was founded in 1921 to promote collaboration among governments concerning technical standards, safe navigation, and the preservation of the marine environment.
  • Established by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) in 2005, it is observed on 21 June, commemorating the anniversary of the IHO’s establishment.
