About UMEED (Unified Waqf Management, Empowerment, Efficiency, and Development)Portal

• It is a centralized digital platform to register and regulate Waqf properties across India.
• Launch: 6 June 2025 
• Administration: Ministry of Minority Affairs in coordination with State Waqf Boards and judicial authorities.
• Mandate: UMEED Rules, 2025, which were framed under Section 108B of the Waqf Act, 1995.
• Objectives: To ensure transparent, time-bound registration of Waqf properties 
  • To empower beneficiaries with digital access to rights, obligations, and legal safeguards.
  • Resolve long-standing property disputes and enhance accountability.
  • Facilitate policy insights through real-time data and geotagged mapping.

Key Features

• Time-Bound Registration: All properties must be registered within six months of launch.Geotagging & Digitization: Registration requires precise measurements and geolocation data.
• Dispute Resolution Trigger: Unregistered properties post-deadline are declared disputed and referred to Waqf Tribunal.
• User Support: Legal awareness tools and guidance under the amended law.
• Women-Centric Provision: Properties under women’s names cannot be Waqf, but women, children, and EWS beneficiaries remain eligible.It enables widows, divorced women, and orphans to apply for maintenance support from Waqf-alal-aulad properties.
