UPSC IFS Full Form

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts a competitive exam called the Civil Services Examination to recruit candidates for various administrative services including the IFS. The examination comprises three stages, namely, Preliminary, Main, and Interview, and applicants must clear all three stages in the selection process to be eligible for the post of IFS officer.

– A degree from a recognized university or institution

IFS Age Limit

The age limit for the Indian Forest Service (IFS) exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) was as follows:

  1. The candidate must be at least 21 years old to apply for the IFS exam.
  2. The upper age limit for General Category candidates was 32 years.
  3. There was relaxation in the upper age limit for candidates belonging to certain categories:
    • OBC (Other Backward Classes): Up to 35 years.
    • SC/ST (Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes): Up to 37 years.
    • Defense Services Personnel: Up to 35 years.
    • Ex-servicemen: Up to 37 years.
    • Candidates domiciled in the state of Jammu and Kashmir during the period from January 1, 1980, to December 31, 1989: Up to 37 years.
    • Disabled candidates: Up to 42 years for General category, 45 years for OBC, and 47 years for SC/ST.

IFS Selection Process

The selection process for the IFS (Indian Foreign Service) involves three stages, namely, Preliminary, Main, and Interview. The preliminary exam comprises two objective-type papers, and the qualifiers will proceed to the main exam, which includes nine descriptive papers.
