Kargil Vijay Diwas Ride: Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles, in collaboration with the Indian Armed Forces, recently concluded another edition of the Kargil Vijay Diwas Ride. This remarkable event commemorates the heroic soldiers who fought during the Kargil War of 1999. The journey, which commenced on 2nd July 2023 from Kohima, Nagaland, saw a convoy of 24 riders, comprising veterans, officers, and soldiers from the Naga regiment of the Indian Army, showcasing unwavering unity and camaraderie throughout the expedition.
The Kargil Vijay Diwas Ride, organized by Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles in collaboration with the Indian Armed Forces, exemplifies the spirit of unity, honor, and remembrance. As the riders embarked on a journey spanning thousands of kilometers, they carried with them the essence of the Naga soldiers’ birthplace and the memory of their sacrifice during the Kargil War. The event not only paid tribute to the fallen heroes but also fostered a deeper connection with the diverse culture and heritage of India. It stands as a symbol of gratitude and respect to the brave soldiers who continue to defend the nation’s sovereignty and safety.
This year’s Kargil Vijay Diwas Ride held a poignant significance, as it was undertaken by the Naga regiment of the Indian Army. The expedition was themed “First Breath to Last,” signifying a connection between the birthplace of the Naga soldiers and the place where they breathed their last during the 1999 Kargil War. The riders carried with them a significant token – soil from the land of the Nagas, considered as “sacred soil.” With this soil in their possession, the riders embarked on a journey spanning over 3,620 kilometers, traversing through diverse terrains and picturesque landscapes.
The Kargil Vijay Diwas Ride culminated at the revered Kargil War Memorial in Dras, Kargil, where the riders of the Naga regiment presented the sacred soil to GOC 8 Division, Maj Gen Sachin Malik. The fallen heroes who displayed unparalleled bravery and sacrifice for the nation were honored and remembered in a heartfelt ceremony. The riders paid their respects by laying wreaths, symbolizing their deep gratitude and reverence for their fallen comrades. The atmosphere was filled with emotion as the nation saluted the courageous souls who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country.
As part of the expedition, the riders embarked on an enriching experience across various key cities in the country. Starting from Kohima, they traveled through cities like Dimapur, Guwahati, Siliguri, Danapur, Varanasi, Lucknow, Delhi NCR, Chandigarh, Dehradun, and finally, Dras. Along the way, the riders had the opportunity to explore the rich history and cultural heritage each city had to offer. This aspect of the ride served as a reminder of the diversity and unity that makes India a truly incredible nation.
