Most Populated Country in the World: India is the world’s most populated country with 1.43 billion people, followed by China and the United States. Population growth is concentrated in Asia and Africa. The lowest-populated countries include Vatican City, Tuvalu, and Nauru.
The most populated country in the world in 2025 is India, with about 1.43 billion people. This means that almost one out of every six people on Earth lives in India. India became the world’s most populated country in 2023, passing China. Together, India and China have more people than all other countries combined.
The total world population has now crossed 8 billion. Some countries are growing very fast, while others are shrinking because of low birth rates. A large population can bring more workers and new ideas, but it can also create challenges like not enough jobs, housing, or food for everyone.
India remains the world’s most populated country in 2025, followed closely by China. India’s population growth is driven by its youthful demographic, i.e., over 65% of Indians are below 35 years of age. This gives a demographic advantage as well as brings challenges such as job creation, urban housing, and food security.
China has about 1.41 billion people and has seen a slower growth rate due to its earlier “one-child policy” and changing social norms. The United States, Indonesia, and Pakistan rank third, fourth, and fifth, respectively.
