National Films Award 2024 – The 70th National Film Awards winners have been announced, displaying the variety and skill of Indian film. A few highlights are that Rishab Shetty won Best Actor and Gulmohar won Best Hindi Film. Best Actress went to Nithya Menon for Thiruchitrambalam. Vishal Bhardwaj won the Best Music Direction award for Fursat, and Aattam: The Play was chosen as Best Feature Film.
This year’s winners of the esteemed 70th National cinema Awards showcase the diversity and skill found in the Indian cinema industry. During the 70th National Film Awards for 2022, Manoj Bajpayee’s movie Gulmohar took home the Best Hindi Film prize. On Friday in the nation’s capital, the winners were declared.

The role that Nithya Menon played in “Thiruchitrambalam” won her the Best Actress prize at the 58th National Film Awards this year, captivating both critics and viewers. Menon gives a very strong and nuanced performance in the Mithran Jawahar-directed Tamil film, which is a touching story about love, grief, and familial ties. Her talent to subtly portray intense emotion has once again demonstrated her.
Manasi Parekh has received recognition for her outstanding performance in the Gujarati film “Kutch Express,” which has won praise for its portrayal of individual and cultural identities. Parekh gives an outstanding acting performance as the main character, balancing power and tenderness. Thanks to Parekh’s captivating performance and the film’s storyline, which examines the complex dynamics of relationships against the backdrop of Kutch’s rich past, the film has received praise.
The Malayalam movie “Aattam: The Play” has been bestowed with yet another honour: the National Film Award for Best Feature Film. This picture, which was directed by a gifted group, has received recognition for its unique narrative structure and the depth of its character.
The film’s contribution to Indian cinema and the depth of Malayalam narrative are highlighted by the prize.
The best narration is what makes the Marathi documentary “Murmurs of the Jungle” stand out. The Marathi film “Murmurs of the Jungle” won Best Narration (Voiceover) in the documentary category. Suman Shinde gave a riveting performance. The documentary’s subjects are vividly brought to life by Shinde’s narration, which is highly praised for its examination of the natural world. The judges praised its ability to fully immerse viewers in the society it portrays, calling it one of the best documentaries.
Renowned musician and filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj of India has received an Oscar for Best Music Direction for his work on the Hindi film “Fursat.” The plot of the film is heavily reliant on Bhardwaj’s music, which is renowned for its ambient and evocative qualities. This accolade further enhances his already impressive career and confirms his place among India’s most talented composers.
One of Sandalwood’s blockbusters, “Kantara,” created history once more by winning two new titles at the 70th National Film Award: “Best Actor” and “Best Entertaining Film.” ‘Kantara’, an action thriller film directed by Rishab Shetty, was released in 2022. The film, which received positive reviews from critics, has Kishore and Rishab Shetty in the lead roles.
The movie is about “Bhoota Kola,” a traditional tribal artist who is still well-known in Karnataka’s rural districts. After ‘Kantara’ became a box office hit in 2022, the Karnataka government started providing a monthly allowance to Bhoota Kola performers who were older than 60.
