The winners of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine are Shimon Sakaguchi, Fred Ramsdell, and Mary E. Brunkow, “for their discoveries concerning peripheral immune tolerance.” Three scientists: two Americans and one Japanese shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine on Monday for discovering interesting features of the human immune system, marking the beginning of the annual Nobel Week, which is when the most prestigious awards for scientific accomplishment are given out. Their discovery has opened up new avenues for the treatment of cancer and auto-immune disease, a condition in which the immune system damages healthy cells that it is supposed to defend.

The Nobel Prize in Physics 2025 was awarded to John Clarke, Michel H. Devoret, and John M. Martinis for their groundbreaking discovery of macroscopic quantum mechanical tunneling and energy quantization in an electric circuit. Their pioneering work demonstrated that quantum mechanical effects, previously observed only in microscopic particles, can also be seen in larger, tangible systems. This achievement has paved the way for advances in quantum technologies, including quantum computing and quantum sensors. Hungarian writer László Krasznahorkai won the 2025 Nobel Prize in Literature. This prestigious award honors authors from around the world whose exceptional literary contributions, ranging from novels and poetry to essays and short stories, have enriched human culture and understanding.

The Venezuelan opposition politician was named this year’s Peace Prize winner by the Nobel Committee on 10th October. In 2025, Maria Corina Machado was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. She was born on October 7, 1967, in Caracas, Venezuela. She is a politician and industrial engineer from Venezuela. The announcement for the Nobel Peace Prize is made in Oslo, Norway, and is generally the last of the Nobel awards to be announced, except the Prize in Economic Sciences.
