Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2026, also called NRI Day 2026, is observed on January 9 to honour the Indian diaspora and Mahatma Gandhi’s return from South Africa in 1915. As the event follows a biennial format, the 19th main convention is expected in 2027, while 2026 may host theme-based conferences.
Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2026 is observed to recognise the role of Indians living abroad in India’s social, economic, and cultural growth. This date is important because it marks the day when Mahatma Gandhi returned to India from South Africa, beginning a new chapter in India’s freedom movement.
