The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released a list of 120 additional candidates from the reserve pool for the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2023. The original result, declared on 16th April 2024, recommended 1,016 candidates for appointments to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other Group ‘A’ and ‘B’ Central Services, against 1,143 vacancies.
Following the recruitment rules, UPSC has now recommended 120 candidates from the reserve list based on merit. This includes:
The Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) will notify the recommended candidates individually. It is also noted that the selection of 30 candidates is provisional.
A total of 120 candidates have been recommended, including 88 from the General category, 5 from the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 23 from the Other Backward Classes (OBC), 3 from Scheduled Castes (SC), and 1 from Scheduled Tribes (ST), to fill the remaining vacancies based on the Civil Services Examination.

The Civil Services (Main) Examination for the year 2023 is scheduled to take place on September 15, 16, 17, 23, and 24. The UPSC Civil Services exam will be conducted in two sessions daily, starting from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the morning and from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM in the afternoon.
The estimated count of positions to be occupied through the assessment is around 1105. The Commission will soon reveal the specific vacancies according to different posts. Please take note that 37 vacancies are allocated for individuals within the Benchmark Disability Category.
The reserve list includes 88 candidates from the General category, 5 from EWS, 23 from OBC, 3 from SC, and 1 from ST.
