UPSC Form Correction Window 2026 Active: Edit Form Till 3 March, Service Preference Update Later

The Union Public Service Commission has released an important update for the UPSC CSE/IAS 2026, announcing the activation of the application correction window from 28 February to 3 March 2026 on its official portal. The online application process was conducted from 4 February to 27 February 2026, and candidates can now edit permitted details to rectify any errors before final submission.

This facility offers applicants greater flexibility to ensure accuracy in personal, academic, and other essential details, helping avoid discrepancies during later stages of the selection process. Aspirants targeting services under the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2026, including prestigious Group A and Group B posts, are strongly advised to verify eligibility and application entries carefully.

Additionally, UPSC has clarified that Service Preference modification will be allowed only after the declaration of the CSE Mains 2026 result, during a separate, time-bound updation window. Candidates who wish to revise their service choices must use this window, as the initially submitted preferences will be treated as final if no changes are made.

UPSC Service Preference Change 2026

The Union Public Service Commission has introduced a significant procedural update for the Civil Services Examination 2026, granting candidates greater flexibility in their career choices. While initial preferences are recorded during the application phase, a Change in Service Preference will be allowed during the updation window provided by the Commission after the declaration of result of Civil Services (Mains) Examination, 2026. This new provision allows successful candidates to rearrange or update their service hierarchy based on a more mature understanding of the various cadres before the Personality Test. It is important to note that this window is time-bound and mandatory for those wishing to revise their choices; failing to utilize this period will result in the initial preferences being treated as final for service allocation.

UPSC Correction Window 2026 New Update

The Union Public Service Commission has opened the UPSC Correction Window 2026 from 28 February to 3 March 2026, allowing candidates to make necessary changes after submitting their application forms. This facility improves transparency and gives applicants a final chance to rectify errors that could otherwise lead to rejection.

The UPSC CSE 2026 application process closed on 27 February 2026, and the three-day correction window was activated immediately after the closure. During this period, candidates can edit permitted details in their submitted forms through the official portal.

UPSC has also clarified that Change in Service Preference will be allowed only during the separate updation window provided after the declaration of the UPSC CSE Mains 2026 result.

This correction facility is applicable to:

  • UPSC Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2026

  • Indian Forest Service (Preliminary) Examination 2026 through CS(P) 2026

Candidates are advised to carefully review all application details and use the correction window within the stipulated timeframe to avoid discrepancies during the recruitment process.

The Union Public Service Commission opened the UPSC CSE 2026 application process on 4 February 2026, which has now closed on 27 February 2026. Candidates who submitted their forms can no longer register afresh and should use the correction window (28 February to 3 March 2026) to edit permitted details, as no changes will be allowed after the correction period ends.

The UPSC CSE 2026 application window has now closed on 27 February 2026 (extended), and the correction window has been activated from 28 February to 3 March 2026 on the official portal.

UPSC Form Correction Rules 2026

The Union Public Service Commission has stringent rules regarding changes to the Civil Services Examination (CSE) application forms.

No Correction After Initial Submission

Once a candidate submits their online application for CSE 2026, no changes are permitted. The official notification explicitly states that no correction, alteration, or modification in any field(s) of the Application Form is allowed after submission. This means candidates must fill out their forms carefully. There is no dedicated upsc form correction window 2026 date for rectifying errors in the initial application.

Universal Registration Number (URN) Profile Updates

UPSC offers a one-time facility to update or modify the Universal Registration Number (URN) profile. It is important to note that any changes made to the URN Profile will not affect applications already submitted. The updated information will only apply to applications submitted after the URN Profile has been successfully re-locked. This is not a UPSC Form Correction Window in 2026 for submitted forms.

Updates After Preliminary Examination Results

Candidates who qualify for the Civil Services (Main) Examination receive a 10-day window. During this period, they must log in to the portal. They are required to update or reconfirm their details and submit a new application form. This step is mandatory to generate the e-Admit Card for the Mains. Fees, if applicable, must also be paid during this time.

Updates After Main Examination Written Results

A 15-day window opens for candidates who qualify for the Personality Test (Interview). During this time, they must fill or update required fields. This includes educational qualification status and uploading relevant proof. Failure to do so leads to cancellation of candidature. No e-summon letter will be issued otherwise. Additional details like postal address, higher education, employment, and marital status can also be updated.

Withdrawal of Applications

The UPSC does not allow candidates to withdraw their applications once submitted. This reinforces the need for accuracy during the initial application process.
