UPSC Interview Date 2023: Candidates who qualified in the UPSC Civil Services (Main) Examination 2023 will have to appear for the interview from January 2, 2024 onwards.

Context: Recently, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the interview date on the official website.

Important Information About UPSC Interview Date 2023

  • Personality Test (Interview) Schedule: On the basis of the results of the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2023 declared by the Union Public Service Commission on 8th Dec 2023, the Commission has decided to commence the Personality Tests (Interviews) of the Civil Services (Main) Examination 2023 w.e.f. Tuesday, 02.01.2024.
  • Interview Schedule Details: The P.T. schedule of 1026 candidates, indicating their Roll Number, Date, and Session of the interview from 02.01.2024 to 16.02.2024, is given below. Reporting Time for the Forenoon Session is 0900 Hours and for Afternoon Session is 1300 Hours.
  • Downloading e-Summon Letters: The e-Summon Letters of Personality Tests (Interviews) of these 1026 candidates will be made available shortly, which may be downloaded from the Commission’s Website https://www.upsc.gov.in & https://www.upsconline.in. No request for change in the date and time of the Personality Test (Interview) intimated to the candidates will ordinarily be entertained.

UPSC Interview Date

  • Important Note on Candidature: It may also be noted that the candidate who has not finally submitted the DAF-II within the stipulated date and time, his/ her candidature shall be cancelled, and no e-Summon Letter shall be issued to that candidate as instructed earlier in para 5.2 of the Press Note/Notice dated 08.12.2022 declaring the result of the written part of Civil Services (Main) Examination-2023.
  • Travel Reimbursement Information: The candidates appearing for the Interview will be granted reimbursement towards traveling expenses for appearing in the Interview, which will be restricted only to the Second/ Sleeper class train fare (Mail Express).
  • Travel Mode and Reimbursement Procedure: In case the candidates perform their journey by any other mode/class, the same will be dealt with as per S.R.-132 and the Commission’s guidelines, available on the Commission’s website i.e. [https://upsc.gov.in/forms-downloads→ Travelling Allowance Form for Candidates (For Candidates only).
  • Submission of Travel Documents: The candidates will have to submit hard copies/Print out of both ways tickets, showing the details of the fare along with the prescribed T.A. contribution claim form duly filled in duplicate.
  • Location of Interview: Personality Tests (Interviews) of these candidates will be held in the Office of the Union Public Service Commission at Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069.

UPSC Interview Date: Other Details

  • Personality Test Eligibility: Candidates whose roll numbers are in the list of shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the Personality Test (Interview) for selection to the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Foreign Service, Indian Police Service, and other Central Services (Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’).
  • Communication Regarding e-Summon Letters: The candidates, who may not be able to download their e-Summon Letters, should immediately contact the office of the Commission through a letter or on Phone Nos. 011-23385271, 011-23381125, 011-23098543 or Fax No. 011-23387310, 011-23384472 or by email on (csm-upsc@nic.in). No paper Summon Letters will be issued for the Personality Tests (Interviews) by the Commission.
  • Important Note on Request Changes: No request for change in the date and time of the Personality Test (Interview) intimated to the candidates will ordinarily be entertained. All the candidates, who qualified for the Personality Tests (Interviews), are required to fill and submit their Detailed Application Form-II (DAF-II) mandatorily.

Overview of UPSC Interview 2022

  • UPSC Mains Result 2022 was released on December 6 and the interview date was released on December 22, 2023. The interview dates are generally released after 14 days of mains results.
  • UPSC Interview Date Information: Following the same, UPSC mains result was released on December 8, and the interview date is expected to be out by December 22, 2023. Once the IAS Interview date is out, it will be updated here. Last year the interview started on January 30 and continued till March.
  • Interview Schedule and Reimbursement: The UPSC interview round is generally conducted in two shifts. Candidates are allotted in the forenoon shift report by 9 AM. Candidates who have to appear for the personality test in the afternoon session report by 1 PM. 
    • Generally, candidates who travel to New Delhi for their UPSC Personality test are provided with reimbursement.
  • Admit Card and Updates: Candidates are required to carry their admit card or e-Summons letter for the UPSC Interview. Candidates are advised to keep an eye on the official website for not missing updates.

Seven Tips to Assist You in Completing the Detailed Application (DAF)

  • Review and comprehend:  First, review and comprehend each of the aforementioned services, and then determine what kind of work (based on your skills) you can expect once you enter the field.
    • Examine the job descriptions and select the one that best suits your needs and where you can excel.
  • Life and Career: Consider the kind of life and career you want and the limitations you can tolerate.
  • Solve the Dilemma list: After reading through every detail of the posts, if you still can’t make up your mind, list your advantages and disadvantages for each service that is being offered.
  •  Abilities and Interests : In the end, you should make the decision. Since nobody knows your abilities and interests like you do.
  • Pay and Benefits not the only Motivation: If reading about the pay and benefits of each service is what motivates you, you can also read about them; however, don’t use that information as the sole factor when choosing your list of preferences.
  • Preference Choice: The IAS would be the first choice for the majority of us.
    • This is without a doubt the most prestigious service available. Once more, some people have chosen the IFS or IPS over the IAS.
  • Skill Level and Nature of the Service: We won’t go to the extreme of providing you with a predetermined list of posts and ranks.
    • You must determine it based on your skill level and the nature of the service.
    • However, prior to providing your service preference list, we will give you a set of guidelines to follow.
