The UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) Interview Board plays a critical role in the final stage of the Civil Services Examination. The UPSC Interview Panel consists of highly experienced and distinguished individuals selected by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). These panel members are experts from diverse fields, including administration, academia, and other professional sectors, ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of the candidate’s personality.
The panel’s primary objective is to assess the candidate’s suitability for a career in civil services, focusing on traits like decision-making, analytical skills, communication abilities, and ethical values. Each panel is chaired by a UPSC board member, ensuring the interview process is unbiased, fair, and professional.
Panel members of the UPSC Interview have diverse backgrounds, including academia, government administration, and the private sector. This diversity enhances the evaluation process by bringing different perspectives into play.
The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is responsible for conducting the Civil Services Examination (CSE) in India, which includes a three-stage selection process: Preliminary Examination, Main Examination, and Personality Test (Interview).

The UPSC Personality Test (Interview) is conducted by multiple boards, each chaired by a UPSC member or an eminent external expert. These boards assess candidates on various parameters, including personality traits, communication skills, and overall suitability for a career in civil services. The interview aims to evaluate the candidate’s mental caliber, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition, and balance of judgment.
The Personality Test (PT) scheduled for 2845 candidates, specifying roll numbers, interview dates, and sessions, will run from 7th January 2025 to 17th April 2025. The reporting time for each session is as follows:
