UPSC NDA Eligibility Criteria 2024 is very important for the candidates preparing for the NDA Exam 2024. Knowing the Age limit, Educational Qualifications and Physical Standards required for the NDA exam is crucial for its preparation.

The NDA 2 2024 Exam Notification has been released by the UPSC on its official website on 15th May 2024, and the UPSC NDA Eligibility Criteria has been given in detail in the notification. The Physical Standards required for qualifying for the NDA exam are also very crucial.

UPSC NDA Eligibility Criteria 2024 – Age and Educational Qualification

The UPSC has released its NDA 2 Exam Notification on 15th May 2024, and has given the UPSC NDA eligibility criteria in detail for the NDA Exam 2024 in its official notification available at upsc.gov.in. 

The UPSC NDA Eligibility Criteria 2024 is divided into 2 main sections: The Age limit and educational qualifications. 

UPSC NDA Age Limit: Only candidates who are unmarried male/female and were born not earlier than 2nd January 2006 and not later than Final Score = (Marks for Correct Answers) – (Marks Deducted for Incorrect Answers) are eligible.

UPSC NDA Educational Qualification: 

  • For Indian Army Wing of NDA: Candidate should have a 12th Class pass or have passed an equivalent examination.
  • For Air Force and Naval Wings of NDA and the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy (INA): Candidates should have passed the 12th grade with Maths, Physics, and Chemistry or should have passed an equivalent examination.

  • Minimum height Required – 157 cm
  • For candidates belonging to the North-East and hilly regions like Gorkhas, Garhwalis, Assamese, and Kumaonis, the minimum height is relaxed to 152 cm.
  • For candidates belonging to the Lakshadweep Islands, the minimum height is 155 cm.

Indian Air Force

  • Minimum height Required – 162.5 cm
  • Length of Leg – Minimum 99 cm, Maximum 120 cm
  • Length of Thigh – Maximum 64 cm
  • Height while Sitting – Minimum 81.5 cm, Maximum 96 cm

UPSC NDA Eligibility Criteria 2024 – Height Standards for Female Candidates

Given below are the NDA Exam height standards for the Female candidates appearing for the NDA Exam 2024:

Indian Army and Indian Navy

  • Minimum height Required – 152 cm

Other Guidelines for Physical Standards in NDA Exam 2024

  1. Candidates whose weight is not proportional to their height will be deemed unfit.
  2. Individuals who have had vision correction surgery, use corrective lenses like glasses or contact lenses, or have had laser eye surgery are ineligible for the Air Force.
  3. Candidates must not have knock knees, flat feet, or varicose veins.
  4. Male candidates must have a well-developed chest with a minimum expansion of 5 cm.
  5. Body Mass Index (BMI): The candidate’s BMI must fall within the acceptable range set by the medical board.
  6. Relaxations: Certain height and weight standards may be relaxed for candidates from specific regions or tribal communities according to UPSC guidelines.
  7. Verification: Height and weight are measured during the medical examination as part of the SSB process after passing the written exam.

UPSC NDA Eligibility Criteria FAQs

Eligibility for UPSC NDA includes unmarried male and female candidates aged 16.5 to 19.5 years, with a 10+2 education (Physics and Maths for Air Force/Navy). They must be Indian citizens, subjects of Nepal/Bhutan, or refugees meeting specific criteria.

Candidates who are married, have undergone lasik surgery, have resigned or withdrawn from any of the training academies of Armed Forces, or have been dismissed from any of the government training academies for misconduct are not eligible for NDA.

No, a 10th pass cannot apply for the National Defence Academy (NDA). The minimum educational qualification required for NDA is completing 10+2 or equivalent from a recognized board in India.

The male candidates should be atleast 157 cm, and the female candidates should be atleast 152 cm. There are some relaxations for certain categories.
