UPSC Selection Process 2024 involves three stages that a candidate has to clear before becoming an IAS officer. It takes about one whole year to complete all the three stages of selection.

The first stage of UPSC selection process 2024 begins with the prelims examination and ends with the interview stage, followed by the medical examination. Candidates have to qualify each stage to be eligible for the next.

The prelims stage of the UPSC selection process 2024 involves two papers: General Studies and CSAT. The candidate has to secure the cutoff marks in both the papers to qualify for mains. The details of the prelims stage is provided in the table below.

Candidates have to attempt nine papers as part of UPSC selection process for mains. The marks scored in seven of these papers will be considered to determine the candidate’s qualification for the interview. The details of the main stage are given below.

UPSC Selection Process 2024 Interview Stage

After clearing the mains, the UPSC selection process involves the personality interview. The candidate will be called to the UPSC office for the interview. The marks scored in the interview will be added to the mains marks to determine the final merit list.

UPSC Selection Process 2024 Medical Test and Document Verification

The document verification process takes place during the interview stage of UPSC selection process, where the original documents are compared with those provided while filling out the form.

After completing the interview process, candidates have to undergo a medical test for physical and mental fitness to be evaluated to meet the standard mentioned in the notification. This test is particularly important for IPS, which requires certain physical standards.

The medical test for assessing physical fitness will be conducted at the following hospitals in New Delhi:
