ICC, International Criminal Court, Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (“the Rome Statue”) came when 120 states adopted a statute in Rome. All the countries that agreed to adopt the statute accepted the jurisdiction of the ICC for prosecuting very serious crimes. The intention was not for the ICC to replace national courts. Instead, the ICC can only intervene when a country is unable or unwilling to investigate and prosecute perpetrators.
