• Government Control of News Sources: Many of the sources that disseminate news are seemingly being controlled (by the government). 
• Challenges with Journalism Quality: While there is a  presence of numerous reputable journalists in India, the prevalence of those lacking in quality is substantial. 
  • Individuals seek news and analysis elsewhere out of necessity, as no society can thrive without access to reliable information. Hence, platforms like YouTube have become a popular choice.
• Decline of Critical Information: Mainstream Media has become more and more pliable to the extent that people looking for critical information are becoming disappointed.
• Media Delegitimization: The Mainstream Media has faced ongoing delegitimization, starting from the highest echelons of power: the government  labeling media as ‘news traders,’ and his Ministers referring to journalists  as ‘presstitutes.’ This relentless attack has eroded public trust in the credibility of news reporting.
  • Hence, they sought reliable sources of information and turned to platforms like YouTube.”
