Housing For All Scheme: The Housing For All Scheme, also known as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) Mission, was initiated on June 25, 2015, with the goal of providing housing for all in urban areas by 2022. This mission falls under the administration of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Housing For All Scheme: As of 2022, the Indian government has extended the scheme until December 2024. A significant financial assistance of ₹127,579 crores has been released, with 64.45 lakhs houses completed and 122.69 lakhs houses sanctioned.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) is a flagship mission implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, launched on June 25, 2015. The primary objective is to address the housing deficit among Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)/Low Income Group (LIG) and Middle Income Group (MIG) categories, including slum dwellers, ensuring a pucca house for all eligible urban households by 2022.

Beneficiaries are eligible for various components of the scheme, with special consideration for people with disabilities, the elderly, minority groups, and vulnerable sections of society.
Any household with an annual income between ₹3 lakh and ₹18 lakh is eligible. The beneficiary family must not own a pucca house anywhere in India to qualify for central aid under PMAY.
The scheme’s operational period is from 2015 to 2022, covering urban areas, including statutory towns, notified planning areas, and various development authorities.
