Housing For All Scheme: The Housing For All Scheme, also known as Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) – PMAY-U, was launched on June 25, 2015, with the objective of providing affordable housing to all eligible urban beneficiaries by 2022. This mission is implemented under the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) and aims to bridge the housing gap by ensuring pucca houses with basic amenities for economically weaker sections (EWS), low-income groups (LIG), and middle-income groups (MIG) in urban areas.
Housing For All Scheme: As of 2022, the Indian government has extended the scheme until December 2024. A significant financial assistance of ₹127,579 crores has been released, with 64.45 lakh houses completed and 122.69 lakh houses sanctioned.

In August 2024, the government introduced Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban (PMAY-U) 2.0, a five-year extension aimed at providing affordable housing to 1 crore additional urban families. This phase introduces new verticals, expanding its scope to include rental housing and increased subsidies.
Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) is a flagship mission implemented by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, launched on June 25, 2015. The primary objective is to address the housing deficit among Economically Weaker Sections (EWS)/Low Income Group (LIG) and Middle Income Group (MIG) categories, including slum dwellers, ensuring a pucca house for all eligible urban households by 2022.
