India International Science Festival (IISF) 2024: The 10th edition of the India International Science Festival (IISF) will take place at IIT Guwahati from November 30 to December 3, 2024, marking a significant milestone as the festival reaches the Northeast for the first time. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, announced this at a press briefing at the National Media Centre, New Delhi. India International Science Festival (IISF) is an initiative of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Earth Science of the Government of India under the mission of Viksit Bharat 2047.
The Northeast will host its first-ever International Science Festival 2024 at IIT-Guwahati. They will host the India International Science Festival (IISF) 2024, celebrating scientific achievements from November 30 to December 3, 2024. A highlight of the event will be a massive 10-meter-high replica of the moon, built to commemorate the success of the Chandrayaan mission. Organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with Vijnana Bharati, the festival aims to promote science and innovation across India.
With the theme “Transforming India into an S&T-driven Global Manufacturing Hub,” IISF-2024 aims to promote science-led industrial growth. The festival will highlight advancements in biotechnology, bioeconomy, and space technology, reinforcing India’s ambitions under the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ initiatives.
Dr. Singh emphasized that this festival aligns with the government’s commitment to fostering the Northeast’s development, placing it at the center of India’s scientific progress. IIT Guwahati—a premier institute—symbolizes the region’s emergence as a hub for innovation, helping bridge connections between the Northeast and the rest of India.
